Dr Horrible Stole My Heart (With His Freeze Ray)

I’ve loved the show ‘How I met your mother’ since its first episode. It is now in its fourth season and has never been funnier. My Freaks and Geeks obsession is no secret so I first heard about the show because Jason Segel is in it. I keep very up to date on everything the Freaks and Geeks gang are up to. Himself and Alyson Hannigan who you will all know from Buffy are one of the cutest on-screen couples that I have ever come across. Cobie Smulders who plays Robin is both attractive and funny. The main character Ted (whom the show centres around) I don’t care for at all. However, this post is not about why I don’t like Ted, how much I like Lilly or even about Jason Segel. It’s about my ultimate favourite character; the shining star of the show- Barney played my Neil Patrick Harris. I’ve always thought of Barney as the heart of the show. His personality and general antics are hilarious and if you haven’t caught the show yet, I highly recommend you do.

I had never really thought about Neil Patrick Harris in another role. I didn’t think he would shine as strong in any other role so I never really looked up anything else he did before HIMYM. This week, my opinion slapped me in the face. I stumbled upon Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and I was proven very wrong about him. The comic womanizer I loved was replaced with his polar opposite- a self conscious, musical super villain that is afraid to speak to his heart’s desire. I was surprised to find that I loved this character even more than Barney Stinson. What a voice he has! I enjoyed Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, not just because it showed the multi-layered talent that is Neil Patrick Harris but because the story divided into its three acts was musically talented, funny and downright different.

@Claire I’ve never heard of that until now. I’m prepared to sacrifice my perfect Neil Patrick Harris vision because it looks so hilarious. Thank you!

Nonsense! It’s an 80s show. Hardly ancient :P I’ve just watched the first two episodes and I am hooked. How adorable is that tiny doctor?
